The Madinat

On Saturday we took the kids to the Madinat - a huge complex of hotels and restaurants, all connected with a series of canals. It really is a stunning place, full of wonderful views (including of the Burj Al Arab which is right next door).

We took the kids on a trip round the canals on one of the boats - call Abras.

A very pleasant morning - in a pretty expensive place. Lunch (a sandwich each for Del and Andrew, and kids fish n chips for Jaime and a burger and chips for Jack, with a drink each) was about $120NZ. Not something we'll do every day - but wonderful to do once in a while.
The most expensive villa in the place is about 40,000 dirhams (20,000 $NZ) a night - but you do get a butler.

The Madinat is also the site of Delanie's favourite Thai Restaurant (Pai Thai), so I suspect we will be back there sometime soon.
