This weekend we had a bit of a break in Fujairah at the Le Meridien Al Aqah. It's a 20 story hotel (see below) about 130 kms from Dubai on the east coast of the Emirates. Lovely place, and the service from the staff was outstanding. The place has a wonderful pool and a beautiful beach.

The kids swam like there was no tomorrow. Both of them are pretty amazing in the water now. Jaime in particular has come on in leaps and bounds. She can swim pretty much as far as she wants now - comes up, takes a breath, and then puts her head down and starts kicking again. Pretty much doesn't need the water wings any more.
The kids had so much fun - as you can see below they found many different ways to enter the water, and even did a little levitating on the way...

Heritage Day

Heritage day at Jumeirah primary. Kids have to wear the traditional arab dress. They also get to try all the arabic food - not a monster hit with the Body kids, but we'll keep trying... Jack was pretty stoked - loved his big white flowing robes - as you can see.
Jaime was not so happy - as you can see.
She got better though, and I think looks beautiful in this photo taken by Saskia.

Kids are below with Sophie and Hannah. Hannah is in Jack's class, and Sophie is in the same year as Jaime.

Boat Trip

A few weekends ago we went on a boat trip along the Dubai Creek. Very busy stretch of water, where all the older dhows are moored. Some great sights of the very old and the very new along the creek. The top end is just awash with the very small abras - I think you pay about 1 dirham for a ride. We got a bigger dhow - just the four of us. Was nice and relaxing and a nice way to see Dubai from a different perspective. Wonderful light that day too - some amazing reflections off the mirrored buildings.
