Singapore

Hi all, Andrew here.  I am finding ways to fill my weekend now that Delanie and the kids are back in NZ for a month or so to escape the 40+ degrees here in Dubai.  Thought I would put on the blog my favourite photos from the 6 days we just had in Singapore.  Delanie went to watch the netball world cup, and I dragged the kids around Singapore.

The view from our hotel room

The kids and I went on 'The Duck" an old amphibious truck from Vietnam
On The Duck, with the Marina Bay Sands in the background - the area at the top has the hotel pool!
Waiting for the The Duck
Waiting for The Duck 2
Hydrating was important in the warm humid weather
After The Duck we went up the Singapore Flyer - it's 5M higher than the London Eye
On Singapore's national day there were fireworks, that we had a wonderful view of from the hotel
We went to a big Toys R Us where Jack fell in love with the angry birds...
... and Jaime showed everyone how to do the hula with three hoops
In the afternoon we took the Cable Car across to Sentosa
At Sentosa we went on the Luge (just like Queenstown or Rotorua).  Jaime came with me, but Jack bravely (you can see the worry in his eyes as we are waiting!) decided to drive himself. He did very well until we had to stop for a lizard the length of my arm, walking across the track...
... and then it rained on the return trip. I think we have seen rain twice in a year in Dubai, so this was a fun event, as you can see
One morning we took the bus to find the house that Delanie used to live in when her family was in Singapore.  Well, bus and taxi, because much to Delanie's surprise they had actually changed the bus route in the 10 years since we had last been there.  Given that Delanie was running late for the netball we were there for just enough time to take this photo, and then back to the taxi (which we made wait for us) and then to the MRT
We visited the Marina Sands Hotel one morning.  A really gorgeous hotel, with an infinity pool about 70 stories in the air.  The view was fantastic
When the netball was over we went to Universal Studios on Sentosa Island.  Jaime wore shoes (at my insistence) and this proved to be a masterstroke because she was tall enough by about 5mm to go on every ride.  We must have gone on this roller coaster and its twin about a dozen times - very cool.  The night before we had done the night safari at the Singapore Zoo which was great - a late night, but a real highlight getting very up close and personal with two leopards
Handsome Jack at Universal Studios
Three monsters at Universal Studios
On the last night we had a satay dinner with Delanie's cousin Scott, and then walked along the Esplanade back to the hotel.  Jack was happy to have his photo taken, but Jaime was not....
There's a bit of Naomi Campbell's approach to the paprazzi in my daughter I think
We loved our time in Singapore, with some beautiful views at night.
After our six days, Delanie and the kids climbed aboard a flight back to NZ, and I boarded a flight back to Dubai, back to work.  I'll be back in NZ in a month - hope to catch up with lots of friends and family then.
